“The discipline of International Relations has now encompassed issues that are inter-disciplinary in nature. Therefore, we need to capitalize on this development for the advantage of future generations who will carry the responsibility over Indonesia’s resilience, development, and participation in the realization of world peace based on freedom, perpetual peace and social justice.”

The ASEAN Study Center was established to research issues related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Through research, conferences, consultations, and publications, ASC FISIP UI seeks to explain and promote the goals, political solidarity, economic integration and regional cooperation of ASEAN. ASC FISIP UI views that the ASEAN community is not just an ideal but a political, economic, and socio-cultural engineering that is both promising and risky. As the largest country in ASEAN, Indonesia faces the greatest possible risk from the formation of the ASEAN Community.

CIReS is a research institute that focuses on research and development of international issues by providing academic analysis of the relationship between domestic, regional and global issues. The main focus of CIRES programs and activities is in the field of diplomacy and Indonesian foreign policy, based on three clusters of international relations studies, namely International Political Economy, International Security, and transnational society. CIReS continuously develop appropriate formations and build good relationships with other parties. CIReS has made a lot of efforts to maintain its relationship with organizations inside and outside the university such as government and non-government organizations. Hopefully, CIReS can grow as a research center that can fulfill its vision and mission.
